Original wood engraving, edition of 40, signed and numbered. Only one available right now.
When I click on enlarging this image the color washes out. I hope it does not do that on your computer!
This is an edition varie", meaning that the color varies on some impressions. The color only varies in the cat, as I tried different colors in the eye and the stripes.
This image was inspired by my 3 legged cat, Bunny. I trapped Bunny in February in the bitter cold outside of the nursing home in Hawley, Minnesota. One of the residents there called me and was upset about a cat crying outside of her window, so I took my trap over right away, almost midnight. I walked around the building and could see cat tracks in the snow and a bloody drag mark with the tracks. No cat in sight.
Early in the morning I found a terrified grey cat in the trap. She had a bad leg with no sensation, broken teeth, misshaped tongue and one damaged eye, funny tail.
After trips to the vet (the leg was amputated) and all winter in a big cage in my studio, she finally let me pet her and today she is a smart, savvy, loving studio cat full of personality. She will eat almost anything. (chips and peas are her favorites) I suspect that is how she survived . At the time I found her she was about 2 years old.
